The Eduard Petzold Foundation works to protect, restore and creatively develop historic gardens, parks and cultural landscapes. We combine our research and design expertise to provide comprehensive and practical support for owners, managers and institutions responsible for garden heritage.
Our aim is not only to safeguard historical and natural values, but also to ensure their thoughtful use in social, cultural and economic development.
We prepare specialist studies that form the basis for design and investment activities:
dendrological surveys, research and analytical studies,
concepts for the restoration of historic parks and gardens (from overall masterplans to detailed elements),
specialist opinions and expert reports.
All documentation is prepared in accordance with current heritage conservation standards and may serve as a basis for subsequent architectural and detailed design projects.
We support the development of coherent, long-term management models for historic green spaces by providing:
conservation audits, together with recommendations for remedial and development measures;
the design of organisational structures, staffing models and technical facilities for managing bodies;
maintenance plans and care guidelines for historic landscapes, climate adaptation strategies for gardens, and risk management plans (including droughts, storms and extreme weather events);
funding models for the maintenance and development of sites, as well as institutional masterplans based on green heritage assets.
We develop programmes that integrate natural heritage with cultural and community activity, including:
programme frameworks for cultural institutions, based on natural and historical assets;
concepts and programming for events such as exhibitions, festivals, themed walks, workshops and participatory initiatives;
training in the design and management of historic gardens, as well as expert support in the development of educational programmes.
We provide flexible forms of advisory collaboration, tailored to specific needs, including:
ongoing, short-term and long-term consultancy in the field of historic gardens, parks and cultural landscapes, as well as support in investment and conservation processes;
preparation of grant and funding applications (culture, heritage, tourism and social inclusion);
strategic advice on the use of historic green spaces in economic and social development.
We support the development of garden tourism as a tool for heritage promotion and sustainable growth by offering:
analyses and strategies to enhance the cultural and tourist appeal of villages, towns and regions through historic green spaces;
the creation of tourism products based on parks and gardens;
the development of guidebooks, maps, themed routes and educational–tourism content.
We offer garden branding services – building a distinctive and authentic identity for a garden or park, including:
the development of a brand concept for a historic garden or park;
the creation of coherent interpretation, information and signage systems;
advice on communication and promotion strategies (including social media and printed materials).
