The Foundation Has Been Granted Public Benefit Organisation Status
We are pleased to announce that the Eduard Petzold Foundation has been granted Public Benefit Organisation (PBO) status. This marks an important milestone in the development of our Foundation and confirms that our activities meet the legal standards required of organisations pursuing objectives that serve the public good.
Public Benefit Organisation status was granted pursuant to the decision of the District Court for Wrocław-Fabryczna in Wrocław, dated 1 July 2026. In Poland, a Public Benefit Organisation is a foundation or association that operates for the public benefit and complies with statutory requirements concerning, among other things, transparency, governance and financial reporting. Obtaining this status brings not only additional rights and opportunities, but also greater responsibility and an obligation to maintain the highest standards of governance and accountability. The Foundation will now be supervised by the Foundation Council, whose members are Barbara Rodak and Joanna Kowalska.
For the Eduard Petzold Foundation, obtaining Public Benefit Organisation status primarily creates new opportunities to further expand our work in the protection, research and promotion of historic gardens, cultural landscapes and the legacy of Eduard Petzold. It also enables the Foundation to benefit from provisions available to Public Benefit Organisations, including the right to receive allocations through Poland’s 1.5% personal income tax designation scheme. Taxpayers will be able to support our Foundation for the first time by allocating 1.5% of their personal income tax when submitting their tax returns for the 2026 tax year. These funds will be used exclusively to support the Foundation’s statutory objectives, in particular scientific research, educational initiatives, publishing activities, and projects dedicated to the protection and promotion of historic garden heritage. Further information on how to allocate 1.5% of personal income tax to the Foundation will be published on our website and through our social media channels.
