The International House Museum Days return for their second edition. On 18–19 April 2026, house museums and memorial homes associated with outstanding figures from around the world will once again open their doors to visitors, inviting them to discover history, art, and culture in the authentic spaces where great creators, scientists, and artists lived and worked.

Following the success of last year’s edition, which brought together 401 house museums and attracted more than 83,000 visitors, the initiative returns as an international event connecting cultural institutions from across the globe. Over the course of two days – 18 and 19 April 2026 – historic houses, villas, artists’ studios, collectors’ residences, and birthplaces of distinguished figures will celebrate cultural heritage together. The event aims to showcase the diversity of these unique places – from small apartments to monumental residences—and to bring closer the stories of people who shaped the development of science, art, literature, and social life.

International House Museum Days aim not only to promote visits to these extraordinary places but also to highlight their importance in preserving the memory of remarkable individuals and historical events. It is an opportunity to experience history up close – in the very spaces where works of art were created, ideas were born, and important decisions were made.

All house museums and institutions managing historic residences are invited to participate. Registration opens on 19 January and runs until 20 March 2026, and applications can be submitted through a dedicated online form.
