Course on the Design and Management of Historic Gardens
The Eduard Petzold Foundation, in cooperation with Garden Masterclass Polska, invites you to a unique course led by Łukasz Przybylak and Jacek Kuśmierski. The course presents, in a practical way, the complete process of working with a historic garden—from researching and analyzing its value, through conservation design, to effective management and communication.
Historic gardens are among the most complex cultural heritage sites. They are human-created compositions that combine historical value, functional space, and sensitive natural ecosystems. As assets of public value, they require continuous care, conscious conservation, and responsible management, always in relation to their own history and the surrounding landscape.
This course demonstrates how to work with historic gardens in a way that is responsible toward cultural heritage requirements, contemporary users, and the natural environment. It is intended for designers, managers, and owners of historic sites, employees of institutions and public offices, and anyone making decisions that affect the future of historically valuable gardens.
During the course, participants will follow the full process of working with a historic garden—from “reading” the site and identifying its values, through developing conservation designs, to strategic and day-to-day management, communication with audiences, and economic considerations.
Please note that the course is available in Polish only.
